The AXON Easy high-power charging station is fully equipped to support the North America Charging Standards (NACS), the most tested and widely used charging standard across North America. Commonly referred to as the Tesla standard, NACS is a system of electric vehicle charging connectors developed by Tesla. It is primarily known through the Supercharger stations, which Tesla has also expanded into Europe. Since its implementation in 2012, NACS has become the most established and commonly adopted charging standard in North America.
Ekoenergetyka achieved a significant milestone by participating successfully in the Testival in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. Hosted by Lincoln Electric with the collaboration and organization of CharIN, the event featured a three-day intensive program where engineers from Ekoenergetyka thoroughly tested the AXON Easy charging stations, confirming their full compliance with NACS.
“We have reached another milestone at Ekoenergetyka, integrating the NACS standard with our most advanced products. Thanks to our systematic approach to designing new chargers, we can be confident that the tests conducted on the Axon Easy charger confirm its full compatibility with NACS, as well as with other products in the Ekoenergetyka family,” highlights Marcin Graczykowski, Director of Product Management Office.
According to data from the US Department of Energy (DOE), Tesla owns 17,740 fast-charging ports in the United States, accounting for 62% of all direct current (DC) fast-charging ports in the country. The NACS connector is an alternative to the CCS Combo connector. Hyundai and Kia will gain access to Tesla NACS and Supercharger stations by the end of 2024. Other manufacturers adopting the NACS standard include Ford, GM, Rivian, Volvo, Polestar, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar Land Rover, Subaru, Fisker, and even BMW.
Currently, there are over 8,500 Ekoenergetyka charging stations installed worldwide, with almost 50% being the reliable AXON Easy stations. Founded in 2009, Ekoenergetyka grew from an academic research project by founders Bartosz Kubik and Maciej Wojeński. Today, it employs over 1,000 people and supplies 20% of Europe’s charging stations for city buses. The company recently announced a deal to supply charging stations for IONITY, a charging point operator owned by Audi, BMW, Ford, Hyundai-Kia, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche.
